April 11, 2014 - Please be advised that Sun National Bank is closely monitoring the "Heartbleed" bug you have seen in recent media reports. The Heartbleed bug affects the encryption technology designed to protect online activities for websites using a technology called “Open SSL”.
Sun National Bank’s business and consumer online banking applications are not impacted by this vulnerability as we do not use Open SSL. We have completed a preliminary assessment of the vulnerabilities associated with this bug and no vulnerabilities have been identified at this time. The Heartbleed Bug is not new and a number of high profile websites are reported to have been vulnerable during the last two years.
With the ever-growing number of phishing email, web, text and telephone scams, we also want to remind you that Sun National Bank will never ask you to provide your user name, password, social security number, account number, Personal Identification Numbers, credit or debit/ATM card information through an unsolicited email, text or telephone request.
